REOPENING MAUI WITH RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, AND COMPASSION.

We are ready to share Maui's enduring spirit and culture with the world.

Mākaukau Maui. We are ready.

On August 8, 2023, devastating wildfires took loved ones, homes, cultural and historical sites, and businesses in Lahaina, located in West Maui. This tragedy claimed 100 lives and affected the lives of many more.

The spirit of Maui is resilient. While Lahaina itself will remain fully closed to the public until further notice out of respect to the town’s residents, West Maui accommodations have reopened to visitors.

With a deep commitment to our community’s well-being, West Maui is ready to return a comforting sense of stability to the lives of its residents. Reopening our doors is one step towards reducing the uncertainties that weigh on our shoulders. It also ensures our community has the jobs and financial opportunities to thrive.

On the horizon is a new day. As one, Maui is moving forward – hopeful and optimistic that it can share its culture with those beyond our shores.

Resources

Support for Businesses

Businesses that are suffering financially due to a lack of tourism in any of Hawai‘i’s counties may be eligible for loans. We encourage small businesses to review all the resources available to them.

Support for West Maui Community Members

The road ahead will not be easy. West Maui residents can contact a resource center to access important support services resources and the latest information on recovery efforts.

Mālama Maui
A Message to Visitors

HTA is communicating important ways that visitors can help mālama (care for) Maui. Visitors throughout the Hawaiian Islands are urged to be especially mindful and respectful in our island home.
